FAQ

  • Why do I need an exam?

An exam allows us to take the appropriate amount of time to address your concerns, identify the issues, create a diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan.

  • What should I bring to my exam?

We ask all patients to come 15 minutes early to fill out a health history form before their first appointment. Alternatively, you can download a form before, print and fill it out before your appointment.

    Health History Form:

    English  |  Spanish

At your exam, x-rays will be taken and your oral health will be assessed. If you have any records, x-rays, or treatment plans from previous clinics that are relevent to why you are being seen, you can bring them, but it is not required.

  • What happens at my exam?

During a dental exam and check-up, the dentist will visually inspect your teeth, gums, and other structures in your mouth, looking for any signs of decay, disease, or other problems.

They may also use specialized tools, such as x-rays, to get a more detailed look at your teeth and mouth. The dentist will also discuss your dental history and any current or past symptoms you may be experiencing.

They will also provide you with oral hygiene instructions, such as how to properly brush and floss your teeth at home.

  • Can treatments be done on the same day as my exam?

We cannot guarantee that any treatments, including cleanings, can be done on the same day as your exam.

  • Are x-rays necessary during a dental exam and check-up?

X-rays are a critical part of the diagnostic process, as they allow our dentists to see things and identify problems that cannot be seen visually.

For example, x-rays can help to detect cavities between the teeth, infections in the bone, or even tumors.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Unfortunately, we do not offer payment plans.

  • How often should I have an exam or cleaning?

You should schedule a visit at least every six months, or sooner if our team determines it to be necessary.

This allows us to stop any issues from developing.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

If you're ready to give us a chance, you can give us a call at 608-622-4002 to schedule an exam. For any additional questions you may have, you can send us an email at: infomadison@affordablesmiles.org

  • What if I need to cancel/reschedule?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, contact us as soon as you know.

A $40 cancellation fee is charged for missed appointments, including those cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time.
